OVERVIEW

  • The 2" OIII narrowband filter isolates the two doubly-ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm lines)
  • Filter has ultra-hard, vacuum-deposited coating
  • Eliminates un-natural colored halos surrounding bright stars

DESCRIPTION

The 2" OIII narrowband filter isolates just the two doubly-ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm lines) emitted by planetary and emission nebulae, while blocking the rest of the overall spectrum of light. The result is extreme contrast between the black sky background and the faint photons of OIII light needed for detailed views of the Veil, Ring, Dumbbell, Crescent and Orion nebulae, among other objects.

Each filter has an ultra hard, vacuum-deposited coating carefully designed to block all of the visual spectrum ranging from 400 to 700 nm This eliminates the un-natural colored halos surrounding bright stars common with O III filters of less sophisticated coating technology.

Chloe R. ★★★★★

Finally got this in my imaging train and the OIII signal just pops against a dark background—no more messing with aggressive curves to pull out detail. The vacuum-deposited coating seems solid, and the halo suppression is noticeably better than my old generic filter.

James ★★★★★

The coatings really do their job—no more ugly halos around bright stars, just clean, sharp oxygen lines on the Veil Nebula. For the price, the contrast it delivers on a 2" eyepiece is honestly hard to beat.

Owen I. ★★★★★

I was worried about color halos from my other filter, but this one's vacuum-deposited coating keeps stars looking perfectly natural. The 501nm line isolation really makes those faint planetary nebulae pop during my last session.
