This eyepiece’s 8.5mm focal length can produce high magnifications that are great for observing objects like the Moon, the planets and binary stars. When atmospheric conditions are almost perfect, this eyepiece can enhance planetary details and allow for thorough explorations of the structures within deep sky objects like nebulae.

This multi-element eyepiece achieves superior light transmission with edge-blackened optics made of low-dispersion glass with a high refractive index. The broad field of view promotes the use of averted vision, which involves looking slightly to the side of a target object rather than directly at it. This is especially helpful when observing faint objects, because using averted vision puts the image on a part of your eye that is more sensitive to light, allowing you to see fainter images.
