Description

This camera features the Sony IMX174 sensor, with a global shutter for improved performance on planetary imaging. The USB 3.0 support also allows lightning fast frame rate capture when paired with its Region of Interest feature.

The large sensor size, combined with the high dynamic range and global shutter, makes this camera one of the best available for solar and lunar imaging.  The benefits of the ASI174MM don't stop there, however.  With a peak QE of 78%, an incredibly low read noise of around 6 electrons, and absolutely NO Fixed Pattern Noise, the ASI174MM is an excellent planetary imager, as well.  If you are looking for the best in planetary, solar, and lunar imaging, look no further than the ZWO ASI174MM.

Joseph ★★★★★

Switching to this camera for lunar imaging was a game changer—the USB 3.0 transfer means I'm capturing hundreds of frames per second without a hitch. The global shutter makes every crater sharp and crisp, even when the Moon's moving fast.

Aurora H. ★★★★★

The global shutter on this camera eliminated the rolling shutter distortion I was getting with my previous planetary cam. Saturn's bands came through sharp even at 150fps, which was a pleasant surprise for the price point.

Thomas ★★★★★

The USB 3.0 connection makes a huge difference—I’m getting smooth, high-speed captures without any lag. The global shutter on the IMX174 sensor really locks in crisp planetary details, even when Jupiter’s moving fast.
