MASUYAMA 1.25″ Series 53° Eyepieces

The machining on these eyepieces is incredibly precise — the focus snaps into place with a satisfying, smooth feel that I’ve never experienced with budget Plossls. Jupiter’s bands looked crisp across most of the field, with only a bit of softness near the very edge.

The 53-degree field is noticeably wider than my old Plossls, and the Japanese glass makes Jupiter’s bands snap into focus. Even at high power on a shaky mount, the eye relief stays comfortable enough that I don’t have to jam my eye against the cup.

I’ve been using these for a few weeks now and the star test is textbook-perfect, with no astigmatism I can see. The 53° field is just wide enough for lunar sweeps without feeling cramped.
